More Desperate Struggle Info, Possibly the Wii's Last No More Heroes
Posted by: Düme  - Yesterday 01:46 PM - Replies (12)
Suda 51, in an interview with Edge magazine, brings us somewhat welcome information regarding his upcoming Wii exclusive No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle.

The enemies' AI, according to Suda, has been improved. This will be apparent when the enemies attack you. Depending on their weapon class, they will either be engaged in ranged or close combat. Also mentioned were secondary characters you'll be playing as. They will each have their own style and "cool factor". Don't worry, Travis fans, for your hero won't be out of the spotlight for good. Suda gives us news that Travis will be piloting a giant robot, obviously hinting at large-scale epic battles. Santa Destroy has also been upgraded, now populated "one-and-a-half times" the original setting, and has been visually upgraded, allowing motion blur and HDR lighting.

Suda, unfortunately for Wii-only owners, thinks that this will be the last No More Heroes installment on the Wii.

"I think this is the las No More Heroes that is going to be in development on Wii. To expand No More Heroes to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but we've done everything we can with it now."
- Suda51

I wonder where Suda plans to take No More Heroes. Some argue that if it were to go to either the PlayStation or Xbox, that it would be jus another button masher, which in my opinion, isn't much different than what it is right now. What do you readers think?

Netflix streaming on Wii rumor gets stronger
Posted by: Rooster  - 06-29-2009 02:38 AM - Replies (8)

See the above image? Netflix had this on a survey a few months back, asking customers if they'd be interested in paying a $9.99 fee to stream movies to their Nintendo Wii over the internet using a special disk that had to be inserted into the Wii while it was connected to the internet.

The same survey has once again popped up, only this time the $9.99 fee has been removed. Does this mean that Netflix is prepared to allow us to stream movies to our Wiis in addition to our subscription at no extra cost? Given that Nintendo sold its 50 millionth Wii last month, it is no surprise that Netflix, who already has this service on Xbox 360, would want to tap into this huge market.

Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition Shown
Posted by: LemonManX  - 06-24-2009 07:56 PM - Replies (33)
Nintendo of America has revealed that the much-anticipated Metroid Prime Trilogy will be receiving a collector's edition. It will come with a metal case, slip off cover and an art book as well. It will also be the only version of the game shipping for some time, so there will not be any extra costs to be worried about. Check out the box art.

Fantastic to hear this, but still no word on whether or not we'll get a Metroid: Other M demo with the title or not.

Wii Motion Plus Required for new Zelda
Posted by: Alex51011  - 06-15-2009 07:15 AM - Replies (41)
Nintendo’s new MotionPlus controller, which is said to create a true 1:1 experience when used with Nintendo’s Wii Remote, may be a required device to play the up and coming Zelda game. Miyamoto has said that: 'The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda’, this seems to not be their biggest hurdle though, as Miyamoto has said that they want to make it so that the experience is so enriching that you will simply want the extra peripheral.

Whether or not this will truly be a 1:1 experience is yet to be seen, but if this is true then hopefully it will be well integrated into the next Zelda; and with Miyamoto heading it, this reporter is sure it will. Here’s a question for you though, rumours have been abound about Link not having a sword in this game, but with the requirement of Wii MotionPlus it would seem natural to have such gameplay in the game. What do you think it’ll be used primarily for?

Metroid Prime Trilogy Boxart Shown
Posted by: LemonManX  - 06-13-2009 11:33 PM - Replies (38)

Just spied this and figured it'd be worth posting up, interesting to note the orange "Collector's Edition" label across it. It may not end up amounting to anything, but this may or may not open up the possibilities of extra features. Maybe even that playable build of Metroid: Other M that Sakamoto talked about? It probably won't be, but this may be something to keep an eye on leading up to its release in a couple of months.

What we do know, is that its a great time for Metroid fans everywhere over the last few weeks.

High Voltage: The Grinder and Gladiator A.D. Could Go Multiplatform
Posted by: Düme  - 06-11-2009 09:56 PM - Replies (25)
In an interview with Destructoid, High Voltage Software’s Dave Pellas talk about what kind of dedication that HVS can bring to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“We can do anything. We’ve got some very, very talented guys. And it just takes time. And dedication. We have the dedication. It would just be, ‘yes, here’s lots of money. Go make this for the PS3.’ [And we would say] ‘Thank you publisher, we will.’”
- Dave Pellas

Its surprising to hear them say this. Not just because of the thought of them “abandoning” the Wii audience. It’s just that with The Conduit not even on store shelves yet, for anybody at High Voltage to say something like this is really premature. Not to mention cocky. Either way, it’s all a business, and I’m pretty sure them making things multiplatform won’t change their support of the Wii core fanbase. Maybe this reporter is just being optimistic.

Do you readers think HVS jumping the gun in thinking of what they can do next? Will their talents be as relevant or unique on other consoles as they are on the Wii? It's all a game of wait-and-see now.

WiiLoaded Podcast Episode XIV Part II - Cloud am Pretzel!
Posted by: Düme  - 06-10-2009 01:01 PM - Replies (13)
As promised yesterday, the second part of episode fourteen has arrived to the internet, and even longer than part one!

The previously mentioned poor sound quality is more obvious here, as you may notice some static inserted in at various points (not including the intro). One of the participants' mic blows out and gets quiet. Pleas excuse us for our lack of preparation.

In this part, Nathanial (Düme), Kyran (LemonManX), and Mark (M@GicM@rker) are joined by Alex (Alex51011) and discuss the Microsoft and Sony press conferences. We even go back in time and talk about some Nintendo news. Mainly of Golden Sun DS. We answer your questions and talk about what we're playing!

Make a note to check us out on iTunes for our old shows. Definitely follow us on Twitter! Also send all of your questions, comments, and hate mail to podcast@wiiloaded.com!

WiiLoaded Podcast Episode XIV Part I - MEEEETROOIIIIID
Posted by: Düme  - 06-09-2009 05:48 PM - Replies (8)
The show returns to you for the goodness of post-E3 news in what is undoubtedly our longest show yet!

If you've seen the teaser thread, you're hopefully full aware that there is going to be a second part to this podcast, so stay tuned, everybody! Nathanial is slow at editing these shows. Especially since they're two-and-a-half hours long.

In this part, Nathanial (Düme), Kyran (LemonMan X) and Mark (M@gicM@rker) take to discussing Nintendo's press conference. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Golden Sun DS, Mario & Luigi - Bowser's Inside Story, Wii Fit Plus, the vitality sensor, the Legend of Zelda announcement and especially Metroid: Other M are all talked about. Please excuse the lack of discussion of the actual show, due to only one participant being present for it.

In part two, we gain one Alex (Alex51011) in a discussion of the Microsoft and Sony press conferences, we answer your questions (and our very first Twitter question) and the length is just the same as this part!

Also, we'd like to warn you. Due to the rushed recording of this show, the audio quality isn't the best. So please bear with us. We aren't professionals.

E3 09: Mario & Luigi - Bowser's Inside Story
Posted by: LemonManX  - 06-07-2009 10:53 PM - Replies (6)
Finally the game that launched alongside the DSi in Japan is going to hit the rest of the world. We've been quite patient in our waiting, especially after two great entries into this series already. The third installment even sees everyone's favourite King Koopa, Bowser, get a starring role as well. Heck, he is even mentioned in the game's title.

The controls stay mostly the same as the other two entries into the franchise. Having both characters moving together but having actions such as jumping being mapped to different buttons. And then in turn-based battles, a well-timed button press could make all the difference between defeating a boss and failing miserably. It is great to hear they are not altering this system, as this will allow for previous fans to continue their enjoyment.

In this title, players will be playing as Bowser for some of the game and as Mario & Luigi for other sections. That concept alone is a great one to me, mostly because Bowser is an awesome character. While inside Bowser, you will complete puzzles which will cause Bowser to react to whatever is happening inside his body. Furthermore, for some battles Bowser will go through a gigantic size change and players will need to rotate their system 90 degress to combat their foes. It has been revealed that the game is being localised and written by the same team that wrote the previous entries, so prepare for more wacky humour than you can probably handle.
